The best way to get a feel for the area is to visit the Seignosse market, which takes place every Wednesday morning, all year round, under the covered market halls near the town hall. In July and August, the Penon district, a stone's throw from the beach, hosts a night market every Saturday evening. The Étang Noir National Nature Reserve
Located at the entrance to the town of Seignosse, this is the first National Nature Reserve in the Landes, classified in 1974. The site covers 52 hectares. The reception pavilion offers visitors an educational trail with information panels on the local flora and fauna.
A wooden footbridge leads into the heart of a miniature jungle, home to many protected species. At the end of the footbridge is the Étang Noir. Opposite the reserve, you'll discover a traditional Landes wash-house where washerwomen used to gather for the "Bugade" (the big wash).
